CB is the place to be an artist. Media, visual and performing arts are essential components of a well-rounded CB education. More than half of the student body participates in the arts. Students can take classes in choir, band, KBFT (student-run television station), The Talon (online newspaper), theatre and visual arts. Theatre productions, Open Mic nights and student-led choirs, De La Femme and De La Dudes, are open to all students. Find more information about our media, visual and performing arts programs here.
A preliminary list of the courses in which you will be enrolled for the 2020-21 school year will be sent in mid-July. Students will receive their Red/Blue placement and the final class schedule, complete with teacher names and room numbers, on Tuesday, August 4.
FinalForms Medical System Registration
FinalForms is the web-based system CB uses to track medical history, contact information and release forms for all of our students. All incoming freshmen must have a completed FinalForms enrollment by August 1, 2020.
Note: Parents/Guardians of enrolled CB students have been sent an email from FinalForms inviting you to complete the medical enrollment for your student(s) through their website. This is mandatory for all students, whether participating in athletics or not. Students must have an updated physical if interested in playing sports at CB.
Please contact Ms. Susanne Pierson at email@example.com or (916) 733-3625 if you have any questions regarding FinalForms.
Students are assigned summer reading books specific to their course placement for English and history classes. Reading assignments must be completed before the first day of school. Please review the Summer Reading List to find your student’s required books. You may purchase books from your chosen retailer.
Virtual Freshman Technology Boot Camp
In lieu of the previously scheduled in-person technology boot camps, we will be providing the boot camp materials to be completed virtually through Schoology. Families will receive an email with their student’s login information to access the materials. The boot camp is mandatory for all incoming freshmen and must be completed during the week of August 3-7. The information will include basic setup and login details to ensure students are connected and ready to go for the first day of school. Students will need to have their iPad available and Apple ID ready for the boot camp. Click here if you need help setting up your Apple ID. We suggest students have their own email address and Apple ID.
Important Technology Information Sessions: Parents and guardians are invited to learn more about CB’s technology platforms and how to best support your students in the transition to our HyFlex schedule and Red/Blue Learning Days. Please join us for a one-hour virtual meeting on one of the following dates: Monday, August 10; Tuesday, August 11; or Wednesday, August 12 at 6:00 p.m. for Q&A with students, parents and CB leaders who will answer your questions regarding technology. Students and families can register for a meeting at //bit.ly/2OmbUnr and send in their technology-related questions prior to the meeting. Attendance is strongly encouraged.
At Christian Brothers, all students are required to take four semesters of a language in order to graduate. Colleges encourage six or more semesters of a language. CB offers American Sign Language, French, and Spanish. More information about our world languages programs can be found here.
